    History

Grateful Fellowship was founded by Pastor John L.Currie Jr. in July of 1998 with 15 members. Out of the faithful 15, was his wife, Lady Danette Currie. The first service was held at 742 Wheatland Road, Duncanville, Texas. Grateful Fellowship increase from 15 members to 100 members within the first year.

In 1999 G.F.C.C. continued to grow, with Lady Danette by his side, God blessed the church with the opportunity to purchase 8.94 acres of land for the new facility.

When 2000 came, the membership grew spiritually and rapidly causing Pastor to re-visit the Vision and prepare for the hundreds of members that were coming to G.F.C.C.

In 2001, G.F.C.C. began outreach ministries to: prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and reaching out to the community. As a result, this became a primary focus for the church.

In 2003, the membership grew well over 315 members. Many people have gone through the new member process and received the right hand of fellowship as new members of the church.

In the year 2008, plans were developed for construction of the G.F.C.C. facility, which will be a state of the art  5,000-15,000 square feet quadrangle. The sanctuary will be able to seat 500-600 people that will allow us to Praise and Worship God for his goodness, mercy and grace which is sufficient. As well as ten classrooms, three large kitchens, and several other auxiliary meeting rooms. This will allowed us to feed the homeless and individuals displaced by natural disasters all the while enjoying worship service. Also we will have an additional 4,000 square feet of space for the comfort, fun, and growth of our youth. The Youth facility will provide Children's Church, Sanctuary, Clothes Closet, Food Pantry, Teen Church, After School Program, Counseling Facility Mentoring "Big Brother, Big Sister", Parenting Class, Economic Development, Job Training facility, Computer Training, Showers/Kitchen for Homeless Outreach Ministry. This will be a place for all walks of life determining the future direction of more than just those who attend. The sports complex will include Football Stadium, Gazebos, and Bleachers  to spearhead our Community Sports Outreach Ministry.

The Lord has been dealing with Pastor John L. Currie Jr. for sometime about establishing a church that would be independent of ethnic and denominational lines, a church that would allow the Holy Spirit to operate as He chooses according to Acts 2:42-48 and Ephesians 4:11-13, and a church that would teach the people the uncompromising word of faith. After receiving a new and fresh vision from the Lord, Pastor 's  vision of breaking the traditional stronghold is coming to pass day by day. He is truly a man with a vision for  the "Kingdom of God."
